As part of our dedication to meeting the diverse needs of our students, we have ensured that several of our teachers have undertaken specialised training in ‘Learning and Teaching for Non-Chinese Speaking Children.’ This programme equips our staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide tailored support to students for whom Chinese is a second language, an increasingly vital consideration in our multicultural community.
The training our teachers have received offers a comprehensive and structured approach, providing them with carefully designed teaching materials and strategies. These resources are specifically intended to address the unique challenges that Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students may encounter as they learn Chinese. By equipping our educators with these tools, we aim to bridge any gaps in understanding, ensuring that every child can thrive academically and feel confident in their language development.
Furthermore, we are committed to creating a harmonious and inclusive classroom environment. To achieve this, we thoughtfully integrate NCS students into lessons alongside their local peers. This approach not only supports language acquisition but also fosters a sense of belonging and mutual understanding among all children. By learning together, our students will have the opportunity to build friendships, appreciate diversity, and develop empathy.
We have observed the immense value that this initiative brings: It empowers our teachers to better nurture every child’s potential while promoting a cohesive and welcoming community.
